Music Score to Ratatouille

Michael Giacchino

Michael Giacchino

Ratatouille

Who would have guessed that the son of a father who was a Navy Seal in the Vietnam War and a Mom who retired as a Sergeant in the LAPD would get a music scholarship to UNC-G, one of the top music schools in the country for Music Education? Well, that’s what happened to me. And maybe this is why I pay particular attention to composers of music scores. Michael Giacchino who composed music for Ratatouille as well as the Incredibles really caught my attention when I watched the movie for the first time this past weekend.

If done correctly, the music score will serve as your own personal narrator. He will let you know who the villains are and who the hero’s are. In addition, he will let you know when someone is either going to find true love or who will get chopped up in tiny little pieces.

I found a video of Brad Bird talking about Michael Giacchino’s role as composer for the movie Ratatouille.
